A Spring Morning

Imagine it's morning! The rooster's early crowing gently wakes you up. Coffee's percolating in the kitchen. A soft spring breeze flutters the organdy curtains by your bed, and melodious bird songs drift in on the wind. Ah, the sounds of morning. Pause by the window and listen. Nature's been awake for hours. Bees making turn after turn, closely inspecting the clover blossoms in your garden. Humming energetically, an iridescent winged bird dines on red, nectar-filled plumes of salvia. So simple, so complete. Watch and listen. Life is simple.
Snapping lunchboxes, books being buckled safely into backpacks, and the laughter of children waiting for the school bus...it's the start of a new day.

A soft thud on the porch announces the news of the day. Plans to make and sort out.

Take time to find your place in the world. Learn, amuse yourself, and form opinions. You are important in the world's scheme. Let your morning's perspective influence a positive act.

Notes from a favorite song filter through the quiet start of the day. Beauty surrounds the morning. Believe in it. Listen to the sounds of a fine spring morning, and find contentment!

Harvesting and Using Summer Squash

Summer squash is one of my favorite vegetables. I love the yellow summer squash in particular. They should be harvested while still tender, when they have a "glossy" appearance and are still small. You will most likely need to harvest daily once they start to appear.
