Quilted Heart Project

Quilted Heart

This little piece is so cute when you work with small plaids or prints.

1. Cut 16 3" squares

2. Sew 4 rows of 4 squares

3. Sew the 4 rows together

4. Fold patchwork in half, cut out heart shaped motif about 10" high x 9" wide. (This is approximate measurements.)

5. Cut out thin batting same size as heart

6. Centre batting and heart on background piece 11" high x 10" wide. I used muslin.

7. Pin and blanket stitch around entire heart

8. Sew 2" borders to sides, then top and bottom

9. Place backing piece 15" x 14" down on top of heart, right sides together.

10. Sew 1/4" seam around outside edge of borders, leaving about 4" opening

to turn. 11. Turn right side out and hand stitch opening close.

12. Sew buttons on corner of each square (optional)

Hang with natural jute or pretty ribbons.
