Dad's Calendar of Giving!

By Brenda Hyde

Coupons are always a popular thing to give to on holidays, but how about a Calendar of Giving instead? You can adapt this for any holiday or special occasion, but here are ideas for Dad:

You will need:

Construction paper or cardboard

ruler

pencil

markers

stickers

tape

Optional: glitter, contact paper, magnets

On a piece of cardboard or construction paper draw out 7 squares for Monday through Sunday, for the week after Father's Day. (Most greeting cards software programs include a weekly calendar you can print out- but make sure you leave the decorating to the kids) Make the squares large enough, such as 2 inches by 2 inches, to write inside. Leave space on the top, bottom and sides around the squares to decorate. Write at the top: Dad's Week of Giving. In the squares write what each family member is giving Dad that day. Example:

Monday:

Emily gives kisses

Michael and Chuckie wash the van

Mom makes cookies

Do this with each day of the week. After you have the week filled in, then decorate the calendar with designs, sayings like "Dad is #1" or whatever the kids create. As an optional step you can cover the calendar with clear contact paper on the front and the back, then attach four sticky back magnet in the corners to hang it on the refrigerator. (Tape will work also).

Present to Dad on Father's Day and watch him smile all week long as he looks forward to his "gifts"!
