A visit from the Tooth Fairy
My daughter lost her first tooth Monday night. She was thrilled to find a nice crispy 5 and a note from the Tooth Fairy. She wanted to go shopping after school to get a small thing for her and her friend that visits her Grandma next door.
I was looking at this tiny tooth in the palm of my hand. I got kind of weepy. I remember when this tooth came in. Isn't it funny how the life of a Mom is? Blessings, Amy |

That is a m oment to remember, Amy. Granted, your DD's growing like a bad weed.
Just a suggestion: have you thought to get a small box, line it with cotton batten and put all her first teeth in them and then give them to her later on when she's able to remember some of her growing experiences? I read where one man's mother did this and it was used as part of their health lessons in elementary school. Further, it would be part of her own life's history.

for bringing joy to your girl at this time and treating her. I can remember times when the girls would have to remind dh and I that the "tooth fairy" forgot to come. They kept their tooth under their pillow. Waiting...waiting...such simple fun! We are waiting for ds to loose his first one. Thanks for sharing the memory of the tooth! ![]() |

I remember all 3 of my children losing their first tooth. It is always a mixed blessing. Sad to see them growing up but happy for the same reason. I saved my children''s baby teeth until I read an article on this subject. An older woman was cleaning out her home of clutter and came across a box of her son's baby teeth. She looked at them and realized that he would never want a box of old baby teeth (and if we really think about it, no one really would) and she after thought and consideration and a bit of sadness and regret, she threw them away. I haven't quite gotten to that point yet, but I do think my dks would be kind of grossed out even now if they knew I had saved their teeth.

Oh yes, Amy and all... it is bittersweet. I saved many things like that, too, and my kids are in their twenties. One of these days, I may decide to toss some of the crazy things I've saved, but then again, maybe not.
I know the first thing to go would be the tiny pebble of an umbilical cord I saved for both of them! It seemed SO important then, and so silly now. ![]() Ahhh....memories. |

Didn't save cord. But I did save the id tags from the hospital, the gown I brought her home in.
I even saved a curl that she pulled out. Don't know how she did that. ![]() Blessings, Amy |
