I too so love the chance to serve and give and do for someone, and I especially love what it has taught even our youngest babes in the family. We have picked up a tradition as a family over the last few years that I am so thankful to have the opportunity to be a part of...we go to our local homeless shelter ON Christmas Day and we take little boxes of presents, toiletries and razors etc in small wrapped gifts. Then we bring a few boxes of home-made Christmas cookies, and then we buckle down and put on our aprons and go into the kitchen and serve the people there, and the volunteer staff who works year round, a complete dinner. We stay through it all, and our grandchildren help pass out the little gifts and take around cookies to everyone and we sing songs. When it's all done, dd and I send our husbands home with the tired grandbabies, and she and I stay and help the volunteer staff clean up. It has truly made us ALL see what Christmas is all about, and we celebrate with heart of thankfulness as a family for what we have and what we share. Our little grandbabies are so excited to know this day comes and it will forever be a part of our legacy to them.
