I love to birdwatch and am always looking for ways to recycle things to use for birdhouses and birdfeeders. Thought I would share a bird feeder idea I found online and one my son made from a cheap plastic soda cup.
Soft Drink Bottle Hummingbird Feeder

Son's Birdfeeder
* 1 large plastic drinking cup
* 2 hard plastic pot water trays (the trays that hold the water under your plant pot), same size, but larger than diameter of cup opening, so it fits over the top like an umbrella or lid
* drill with a 1/2 inch drill bit (used to drill out holes on opposite sides near bottom of cup on either side)
* drill with small size bit to drill through both pot water trays and bottom of cup in center (size of shank ring bolt)
* long shank threaded ring bolt (shank or pole of ring bolt has to be long enough to fit through both pot water trays & cup when stacked together) & nut to tighten
* wire or string to hang in tree
After drilling holes in middle of pot water trays and bottom of cup, stack the "lid" pot upside down over the top of the cup opening and the bottom tray under the cup and thread ring bolt through all of it and slip nut on bottom of threads & turn slightly. To use: Since nut is loose, pull "lid" up and pour birdseed into cup. It should spill out of the holes you drilled close to the bottom of the cup and fall into the bottom pot tray. Tighten nut and hang in tree with wire or string tied to ring bolt at top of feeder. Viola! A cute birdfeeder!
