maybe im just an old prude ... although im not that old ... but i dont think she deserves the benefit of the doubt. i think it was a pathetic publicity stunt by someone who had to use music that was 15 yrs old because she hasnt done anything worthwhile sense. i think she should be booted from the grammys, and timberlake with her. but they wont do that because they would lose the teeny bopper crowd that would tune in to see him.

If her breast wasn't shown, would we even be talking about this?

Most people keeping talking only about the breast, what about the bumping and grinding between the singers and dancers? Am I the only one that thought this was inappropriate? I think I have only seen 1 or 2 people respond to that.

Somehow it was an 'acceptable' show with a lot of skin showing and people half humping each other until there was a breast shown. What am I missing?

EXACTLY! Which is why, in a way, I'm glad the breast WAS exposed. People would have grumbled about the other, but not that much. With the breast exposed, it made the other stuff appear even "worse", and something might be done about THAT, too.

Ya know what? I seen a homeless person the other day in my very small Michigan Town. This person was digging threw the trash bin behind the local gas-station. Ive seen homeless people on TV but never ever would of thought I'd see someone like this in small town USA. Ive thought about that man for two days now. I suddenly realized in reading the last post on the JJ/JT subject how pathetic I am and how pathetic the United States is as whole. Isnt it pathetic the amount of money that was pocketed by awhole bunch of people isnt it pathetic the amount of outrage and publicity that came from a stunt? I watched a person scrounging for food in a dumpster in the freezing cold..........Im ashamed of myself for even feeding into this BS. For gosh sakes there is really terrible things happening right in front of our faces - things way worse then what JJ and Timberlake did. The kids who seen it will get over - I dont want to hear about family wholesome blah blah blah I hope my children and your children never have to see and try and understand what I saw. I am just devistated. In a few days this whole rediculous BS will be over with. But someone is still going to go to bed cold and hungry. I wish that the things that really count caused such an uproar. Shame on all of us.

Kathy, I totally disagree. Yes, homelessness should cause an uproar. I am amazed that it has taken you so long to actually see it...we pass it almost every day here...but perhaps my city is much larger than yours. The problem is that people like JJ/JT are going to do whatever THEY want, trampling on what others feel is "right" and "decent" in the process. It's that ATTITUDE that contributes to the homeless problem. Wrong is wrong, whether it be in the streets or during the halftime show. I want my kids to be aware of what's going on around them, to reach out to those in need as much as possible, but at the same time stand up for those "wholesome" values you're no longer interested in.

I didnt mean Im not interested in wholesome values. I just mean that there is worse things out there then what happened with JJ and JT. Children who happened to see what happen have probably already forgotten. I would rather explain to my children that adults sometimes make silly decisions then why someone is digging for food out of a dumpster. I have no right to be the judge and jurer, cover my mouth and gasp about antics on TV. I guess if things like that really bother me I should get rid of my TV. I dont know many people who can. There is alot of bad things happening out there (not just homeless problems). Our attention and the energies should be spent on those things. Ill say it again in a few days this little stunt will be old News.....but the real problems are still going to be here.

I don't think this is an either/or situation. Both subjects are things that need work. I can't understand why the networks and the sponsors don't consider our ideas when putting on the shows. There are many people who would love to have wholesome tv programs the entire family could watch. I suppose we have quietly quit watching so many programs because of their content and haven't versed our opinions enough to affect the income of those concerned. Perhaps it would be a good idea to write to the sponsors of the programs with questionable content and let them know we will have our tv's turned off enmasse and will not buy their products if they continue to support the filth that they have presented as entertainment. Money does talk. As for the other subject: most cities have shelters and places to feed homeless. I don't know about the place mentioned. Many of the homeless in our nearest city prefer to go other places rather than abide by the rules of the shelters. I'm all for feeding the hungry, but there are rules for them also.

I completely agree with you licia. There are places for the needy and some of them wont or mentally cant conform to society rules and it is basically there choice to live on the streets. Some have no choice.....

My point was that I seen this man in the garbage bin.......it made the whole JJ/JT seem not so important. I realized that there is bigger and more important things to worry about. I live in a very small town and I havent had the experience of seeing homeless people. Being upset by a couple of famous peoples antics suddently seems insignificant to real problems in the world. Be it homeless folks or whatever. I watch very little Television and hardly ever watch local programming simply because Im not comfortable with the programs available. This is my choice to turn the channel. Its not always someones choice to become homeless. It was my choice to watch the game and the half time show. The style of music and entertainment wasnt my taste I should of turned the channel then. It was my choice to continue watching.

What happened at the superbowl hurt alot of people. The great game of 2004 wont be remembered for the game thats for sure. Hmm I wonder if the players feel slightly cheated (?)

People will forget what you did, People will forget what you said, People will NEVER forget how you made them feel (louis nizer). As I said in my previous post, the stunt pulled by JJ/JT will eventually be forgotten, I will never forget how seeing that man made me feel. Im sorry that people were offended with what happened. Im not sorry that I finally realized what is important.

Yes, it will be forgotten, but the homeless will still be with us. You're absolutely right about that. I get angry that my children can't watch TV because of all the crap on it. The ONLY television they watch is on PBS. I don't have the choice to turn on quality programming, because there is NONE available. I was even offended with incredibly violent commercials R-rated movies during the Olympics! I shouldn't have to tell my children they can't watch high-quality athletics because of the commercials, or can't watch football because of the half-time. To me, it's JUST as important as the homeless problem. At least, there's a possibility we can do something about it, where we can't about the homeless.

I cannot believe that everybody is making such a big deal of this. It was a boob!! It wasn't a penis or vagina splattered all over the television. RELAX!! TV shows consist of nudity and no one ever is an uproar about that! ER last week showed an older lady whose shirt was torn down and breasts fully exposed and no one ever said a word. How is that any different?? This week, however, ER did blot out a breast because of the Super Bowl fiasco! Get over it!!

i suppose some people are more sensitive than others .. i dont think im an overly sensitive person to things like this BUT ... i dont let my 7 year old watch ER because its inappropriate for someone her age. HOWEVER she did watch the superbowl with us. i did not appreciate having to spend the time trying to explain to her how inappropriate that was. i shouldnt have to. that is primetime television, during a program that a lot of families watch together. not late night television.

Here in Australia, can you believe that this is all the talk here as well ???? The show wasn't even televised here for goodness sake.

I think if it had happened here it would do nothing but raise a giggle from most people.

Personally, I don't think it was appropriate for it's time-slot but I'm not having kittens over it. What worries me more are the frightening pictures we receive of our men/women at war in Iraq. I find this hard to explain to my kids.

I must agree that there are many things that are way more important than the sight of a breast. With no disrespect to those of you who were extremely offended. Even among my pagan friends we are talking about it. Though really we weren't offended by the boob, we are often topless at festivals, we did think it was a pretty pathetic attempt at jump starting a flagging career.

I'm just hoping that this doesn't cause to much of a backlash as some one who is against censorship, hopefully not, but likely I'll still be watching almost all cable programming.

Again I am not flaming here- I think what JJ did was stupid, but a breast is not a pornographic image. The human body is beautiful and is nothing to be ashamed of. I respect peoples rights not to have their children view things they don't approve of, but when I was young if there was something I shouldn't see my parents would turned the channel during half time.. I have done the same with my neices and nephews though now I am the cool one with the older ones.

Just my 2 cents and I know it's worth about that much. I personally have bigger worries than having seen a breast.

im not having a fit over it either, but i dont think she should balk at whatever the consequences are. as far as explaining the war to my daughter ... its harder to explain why a man would commit mass murder.

    My 2 cents

I watched the game to watch football. I never expected to see that at half time. The parents are not to blame for what was allowed. How are we supposed to know what is going to happen? A family is having a good time laughing and talking and watching the half time and then wham...this happens...the shock factor is so much you don't have time to flip the station and when you realize what has happened it is over with.

    Just my 2 cents....

I guess my point is that that the number was between 2 and 3 minutes long, the breast-flash was in maybe the final 10 seconds. It seems to me there was plenty of time seeing the bumps and grinds and crotch-grabbing and hearing the lyrics, to decide "this is inappropriate" and to turn it off befor the "flash" part came up.

I think that it is just sad at what the networks look at as "entertaining" anymore. It's sad that they think that all of us out here want to see this type of display.

I, myself, have emailed everyone that is connected to this and will continue to monitor what is being done to prevent it. It's a shame that we can't have more say so from the beginning.

I've also objected to the Fox network programs that are coming out that degrade women and the family. I suggest that everyone do this as well.

    Another good point by Tricia.

A boob is a boob is a boob is a boob! Wether it be breastfeeding, "moving" in a drama scene, or in sexual content!
