Question Is there a food place you WILL NOT eat at?

Today my brother tried his best to get me to eat with him at this Mexican place here. He was even going to pay. I refused. Yes, I refused a free meal! I have not eaten at this place in years. I used to eat there all the time but it went down hill. When I am eating out I don't care to see roaches on the tables and walls. Sorry! That is why I stopped going there.

Then there is this chicken place we used to go to all the time. I quit going because it was always filthy! The dining area, bathrooms, even the cooking area. I have not been back there in years, and won't.

I love to eat out but these two places I refuse to go to eat.

Is there any place you refuse to eat at no matter what?

Agree but-mum - no KFC for me. I think I've had it twice in my life and that was 2 times too many. Can't stand food court (in shopping centres) food either especially the deep fried stuff - just imagine that some of it is made first thing in the morning and is probably still sitting there at 5pm.

I do like some of the food at KFC but won't eat there because of a bad experience I had. It was at a KFC down in the city but just the same...I walked in to pick up my order and slipped on the floor. When I looked down, I was slipping on maggots. Yes, maggots and they were crawling all over the place...even in the kitchen ! Our KFC in town is very clean but just the thought of what happened to me...turns my stomach.

OMG, I can't believe they could leave something like that. You can's say they didn't see that. I would have had to go home and take a shower after that one. It grosses me out just thinking about it. What did they say to you after that happened? I would have walked out and not ordered from them.

They didn't seem terribly concerned about it. They just began to sweep them up. I was with my mom and sisters and we were on our way to a family reunion. I walked out and cancelled the order but my sister bought the chicken behind my back. I can't believe she did that. Needless to say, I didn't eat chicken at the reunion and I walked away from the table so I wouldn't throw up watching everyone else eating it. By the way, my sister did eat it...yuck

I won't eat Chinese food after hearing what happened at the one in the town. My Mom had gone to the hairdresser next to the Chinese place and she had told my Mom that she went over on her lunch break to get something to eat. She brought it back to eat in the backroom at the salon and was eating it and halfway down there was a ****roach in the noodles. Needless to say she went back over and told them about it. They denied that the roach came from their place and wouldn't do anything about it. I'm glad that I never tried that place.

I eat at KFC but after reading that it may be awhile before I eat there again. UCKO!

Also I love Chinese food, that is GROSS!

I am glad out heath dept. here rates our food places and makes the food places post the score where you can see it when you walk in the door.
Anything under 70 is failing score and I will not eat there. They have 2 weeks to get their score up and a readjusted score is posted.
They also post the weekly scores of places they visit weekly on TV and in the newspaper. As much as I like to eat out you can believe that I keep up with who has good and bad scores!

Betsy I wish they did that at the restaurants around here, although they do seem pretty clean. The Chinese restaurants we have been going to you can see that kitchen and they are very clean, its the ones you can't see the kitchen that worry me.

The worst restaurant I was in was Taco Bell in the Wisconsin Dells
We walked in our shoes stuck to the floor it hadn't been scrubbed in so long the kitchen you could see from the counter and there was food all over the floor, it was so gross. I would never go there again. It turned my stomach. We went to Burger King next store, at least it was clean.

My DS used to work at a Chinese restaurant in the city. This place always appeared clean but I was still a skeptic. DS gave me the inside scoop and told me they were very fussy about cleanliness. My problem...DS was the one mopping the kitchen floor. He wasn't good at cleaning at home so I couldn't imagine him cleaning at a restaurant! I guess he was doing something right though because they just loved him!

if there is hair in the food i won't go back there for a long, long time...and this happened a month ago at a diner i like going to called Zoto's.

also, the bennigan's near us always has greasy door handles and smeared windows and that is gross to me....i mean, come on, clean your doors and windows.....i don't know why i care so much, the food is usually fine.

oh, i almost forgot...we were dining in the Olive Garden and a waiter walked right through the dining room with a plunger....dripping wet....is that gross or what? i called later and complained to the manager.....i'll probably never go back....

Another thought on the Chinese restaraunt--there were 14 of them sleeping in the restaraunt every night. They used it as a home. They never got a fine just a warning not to use it as their home anymore. Then they all moved into 1 apartment together (one bedroom). Then they caught up with them again and then nothing was done--just a warning that htey can only have 2 to a one bedroom apartment (as that is a housing law in this state). Haven't heard anything since (and this was YEARS ago).

I have a friend who visits the restroom of any restaurant before he decides whether or not to eat there. I can say that I've gone to the restroom and had I seen that before, I probably wouldn't have eaten there. I try not to eat at places I'm not familiar with and try to really keep updated on those I do patronize.

Post script: Perhaps when travelling, I should do as we did in Europe. We went to a cheese shop, bakery, green grocer, etc and purchased our food before travelling. It was fresh - the shops were clean and nobody got sick!

There are several chinese places here in town. I've only heard of one having problems. But this was years ago. I had eaten there once before I heard about the problems. Apparently, the health department found rouches in the kitchen as well as bug spray stuff near open containers of food. The place was closed down several times because of this. It was eventually bought by someone else and the name was changed. It's still a chinese restaurant. I've eaten there once since. The food is good, but I still get the willies thinking about eating there.

    Gagging at the memory ...

Years back, I worked briefly at a Long John Silver's seafood restaurant in Oklahoma. Don't eat the coleslaw. Just don't.

At that store, anyway, the cook stirred the ingredients together in the refrigerater vat with his bare, unwashed arm. Just ugh. Hair in my food is one thing - armpit hair something else entirely!

On the brighter side, I also worked at several Sonic Drive-Ins and a Pizza Hut - and will still eat their food!
