Matches in a jar ideas and SMELLY JELLY

    Matches in a jar ideas

I like the idea of a small jar (8 oz.) with matches as a"go along with"
gift with some candles. I'd cut a circle of sandpaper to fit between
the ring and lid for striking the matches. They would also be great with
a basket of fire starters for friends with a fireplace.

I burn a lot of candles and can never find
    matches!

    SMELLY-JELLY JARS" aka Renuzit
16 ounce jar of liquid potpourri
    1 box of Knox Gelatin
1/4 tsp Potassium Sorbate (to prevent mildew)
    3 jelly jars

In old pan mix 8 oz. of liquid and all 4 envelopes of gelatin and
potassium sorbate, bring to a boil over med heat stirring constantly
till dissolved. Remove from heat and add remaining liquid potpourri,
pour into jars and let cool.

DO NOT put lids on till cool and set!
This recipe makes 3 jelly jars not quite full. Add Lace over the top
and decorate to your liking. Just let it sit with no lid and enjoy the
    fragrance.

    SMELLY JELLY
    2 C. liquid potpourri
    4 envelopes Knox gelatine
    2 T. vodka or 2 T. salt

Bring l cup of the liquid potpourri to boil. Stir in gelatine, and
stir until dissolved. Add remaining liquid and vodka or salt. This
keeps it from molding. Pour into jelly jars. Put a small doily or
netting over the top, and tie with raffia or a thin ribbon.

I love the match Idea, I have been looking for some small fancy ones for the matches...been checking out the different dollar stores, found some and this week end I am going to find some sand paper in Steves stuff and make one for myself...And lets face it, when I light my candles in jars by the time they get low, If I use my lighter I always seem to burn myself...I am also going to see if I can find some tall jars or containers to add my long fireplace matches in...Again I just love the match idea...

Please remember to put the matches in the jar UPSIDE DOWN if you put some sand paper inside the lid. Otherwise every time you twist the lid to remove it, you will end up lighting ALL the matches at once.

I did the smelly jellys a couple of years ago and I wasnt impressed with them. But maybe it's because I like my scents a bit stronger.
