    Talking Thanksgiving Hand Tracings

Simple but fun for the little ones!

    Hand Tracings

A classic Thanksgiving arts and crafts project
for kids is tracing their hand on a piece of
construction paper and it becomes the tail
feathers of a turkey. They fill in the rest of
the drawing and they have holiday artwork!
However, I have thought of something a little
different to do with a tracing of our hands.
Have each family member trace their entire hand
on a piece of orange construction paper; yes,
even Mom and Dad. Using a brown marker have
everyone name five things they are thankful
for and print them on each finger. In the
middle of the hand you can either print the
persons name or glue on a small picture.

Place all the hands in a decorative manner on
the inside of the front door, and be sure to
keep the supplies on hand for visitors to add
their own thankful hand to your display. Be
sure to date each one, and store with your
    other keepsakes after the holiday.

    Thankful tree

We do something similar to that. I make a tree with limbs out of brown craft paper. I then make leaves out of autmn colored construction paper. We write one thing we are thankful for on each leaf and hang it on our tree. I try to start around the first of November and then by Thanksgiving, I have a tree full of thankfulness!

    Smile

Brenda and Robin, I love both of these ideas. I am constantly looking for things to keep the kids "occupied" at holidays. Thanks, Gayle
