    Smile Heirloom Recipe Party

HAVE AN HEIRLOOM RECIPE PARTY AND MAKE AN FAMILY HEIRLOOM RECIPE COOKBOOK SO FAMILY RECIPES WILL NOT BE LOST AND FORGOTTON.

HAVE FAMILY MEMBERS PREPARE THEIR FAVORITE FAMILY RECIPE; BRING A COPY OF THE RECIPE TO THE PARTY.

THE HOSTESS PURCHASES 3 RING BINDERS AND DECORATES THE FRONT OF THE BINDER TO REFLECT THE FAMILY.

AT THE PARTY, THE HOME IS DECORATED WITH FAMILY MEMORABILIA; THE TABLE IS SET WITH GRANDMOTHER'S DISHES OR THE FAMILY FAVORITE SERVING PIECES PLUS LINENS. A FAMILY FAVOR COULD BE MADE BY GETTING COPIES OF OLD PHOTOGRAPHS MADE FOR THE FAMILY AND PLACING THEM IN AN INEXPENSIVE FRAME OR CHRISTMAS ORNAMENT FRAME. EACH FAMILY MEMBER CAN TELL THEIR FAVORITE FAMILY MEMORY WHETHER IT BE FROM A HOLIDAY MEAL OR A FAMILY MEAL. EACH PERSON SHOULD WRITE DOWN A FAVORITE FAMILY MEMORY TO BE ENCLOSED IN THE HEIRLOOM FAMILY RECIPE BOOK.

EACH PERSON BRING A FAVORITE FAMILY RECIPE DISH SHOULD BRING A GOOD QUALITY COPY OF THEIR HEIRLOOM RECIPE WITH HOLES PUNCHED IN THEIR COPY TO FIT THE BINDER. COPIES OF THE RECIPES ARE COLLECTED AND COLLATED BY THE HOSTESS AS THE GUESTS ARRIVE; AT THE END OF THE PARTY; THE BINDERS ARE DISTRIBUTED TO FAMILY MEMBERS AND THE COLLATED COPIES OF RECIPES AND MEMORIES.

THIS IS A WONDERFUL WAY TO SAVE THE HEIRLOOM RECIPE TREASURES THAT ARE SOMETIMES LOST BETWEEN GENERATIONS OF FAMILY MEMBERS.

Top idea MsJodi. Don't forget to take photos of the party group to add to that heirloom recipe book.

    Smile OTHER RECIPE BOOK PARTIES

THIS RECIPE BOOK PARTY IDEA CAN BE APPLIED TO BRIDAL SHOWERS, CHRISTMAS PARTIES OR ANY OTHER OCCASION WHERE A COOKBOOK CAN BE COMPILED AMONG FAMILY AND FRIENDS. A WOMEN'S ORGANIZATION AT OUR CHURCH COMPILES A CHRISTMAS COOKBOOK YEARLY BY USING THIS CONCEPT.

I like this idea, I am going to talk with my sister (she came in from California) about this today, may-be next year we can do something like this. We also have a table cloth that each year we sign our name and add something to it.(you can only sign once a year, Thanksgiving or Christmas) If the children are to little we just put their hand/foot into finger paint and stamp it, then sign their name. Heather being the oldest of the Cousins has her name on it twenty nine times. Just waiting for some pies to get done and for Steve to get out of the shower. Was up last night late getting things done...

What a wonderful idea. Being into geneology, this will make an excellent New Years Party theme!!!

I have gathered all the favorite family recipes a couple of years ago. I said I was going to do a family cookbook.

    I haven't done it yet.

This is a great idea I may make copies of all of them and invite the girls all over to do it thenselves.
