Wow! This is such a wonderful informative group and I know you can help me out. This was my first visit back in a while (due to lack of time - certainly not lack of interest!) and I just couldn't stop reading all the great posting that has been going on.

I will be a co-host at a Red Hat Society tea and I need some ideas for special table favors. I will need 40 so I need to keep cost in mine but will appreciate "any" ideas and suggestions you might have as I could use some favors for smaller tea parties as well. If anyone knows of a place or website that I could find some inexpensive "small" tea cups or items that could also be used that would also be a great help as we will probably also do a "little" gift bag for guest to take home.

Thanks for your help!

Hello!

Just several weeks ago, it was my turn to spin a tea. I pondered and pondered and came up with this little idea, it might help you.
Take a RoseMary Topiary shaped like a tree, Can find loads around Christmas time, Or shape a medium size plant of Rosemary for the center tree, You will be placeing tea bags strung from gold threads or whatever you have, ribbons, etc. ALso, place little lumps of sugar, brown in a netting and hang with the tea bags, Fill the teas with as many bags as can collect, You will have a nice center place as well as a conversatin to start the tea with, You can get sugar with flowers on them, also sugar sticks and honey sticks hung from the tree, Lemon I did not hang, too liquid! (grin) Have fun and offer lots of choices, I was happy with the results and would use this idea again, except the same group of gals come all the time....must try something new (grin)

Recently, I saw inexpensive tea favors in a local shop. Someone made little bags from a rectangle of calico fabric. The edges were pinked and the rectangle was folded in half and stitched up the sides. An individually packaged tea bag was inserted, and a little tea saying on paper was glued to the front. They were meant to be included in a greeting card. Kind of like a fortune cookie!!!

Good luck,
Nancy

I too am a red hatter and I bought tiny straw hats I sprayed them red paint then hot glued a stick pin to the inside brim I also added a small purple ribbon as a hat band or feathers or what ever. you can find bulk packages of hats, pins, or ribbon in your craft stores If you explain to the store you need a bulk amout of each item can they order these items for you in bulk. You can also search for craft supplies online too. I also made a lunch bag small brown type with top folded down and the 2 corners so the top of bag looks like an arrow head, then fold over one more time add a piece of cord attach one end under the bag flap staple and on the other end a tea tag the reads Red Hat tea. these can be your goodie bags. Inside you than put the following in the bag:

LIST OF MUST HAVES

> > * TOOTHPICK
> > * RUBBER BAND
> > * BAND AID
> > * PENCIL
> > * ERASER
> > * CHEWING GUM
> > * MINT

> > * TEA BAG

(and the following list)

I don't know if you can find red stryfoam cups, but even you could make this with white coffee cups and tie a red ribbon on it.

I went to a Mothers/Daughters banquet with my mother-in-law and her church ladies made stryfoam cups into hat magnets -- they shrunk them in the oven and the cups melted down into hat shapes. I was told the ovens were set about 250 degrees F. and the ladies put the cups upside down on foil covered cookie sheets and watched until the cups shrunk down into the "hats". Then removed them from oven, let cool, and glued a ribbon around the "crown" part, a posy, and a magnet on the back side of the "hat". They were very cute!

I've seen some of those hats and they are very pretty. The seem to melt into various hat shapes and that makes it so interesting - never knowing what shape the hat will be. Charming idea!

I just went to a huge dollar store here near where we live that I haven't been to before and they had a huge selection of stuff for red hatters! Little resin hats on a stand (abt. 3 inches tall), red hat pins & purses to match, red hat, shoe, & purse sets, etc. Look up near the register area at The Dollar Store in your local area and they might just have something you could use!
