View Full Version : little apples
I have a question for you all...I found this tree yesterday that has these berries on them that look like apples, when walking in the woods, but these are the size of a small berry. If you gave this apple/berry what ever it is, to Barbie it would fit in her hand just as if it belonged to her...Anyone have a clue???

Nothing I have ever seen. We have a crabapple tree down here, but it would be a little bigger. Good luck, let us know if you find out. Janice
Well I went to the house that this berry was found, when we were picking I saw this berry on the other side of the fence. Its called a Hawthorn berry...The women some where in her 70's was wonderful and said we could pick as many as we wanted, when ever we wanted...You wouldn't believe the properties of this berry...I looked it up, it is good for the heart, fatigue, shortness of breath, weightloss, safely speeds up the metabolism, reduces cholesterol and triglycerides, strengthens the heart muscle, reduce high blood pressure caused by the hardening of the arteries and kidneys...a few berries in a bowl will ward off evil spirits...LOL...they say it was the tree that they made the crown of thorns that Christ wore, you can make tea, brandy, jelly, just eat the berries, though they are yak, in that state. I am going to pick some today and try a cup of tea in the morning. And I want to put some in silicone gel so I can give some to phoenix for her barbies...they are that small...I was so excited to find out what it was. I just had to go to this women's home to find out.

Wow Lina!
Sounds like you struck a gold mine!! Think I need to get me a bush, ;) I have a nasty urinary tract infection now. grrrrr. I did buy my cranberry fruit capsules today, so hopefully by tomorrow I'll be feeling much better! Anyway.... I think I'll do a search and see if maybe they would grow here. Let me know how the tea turns out, would ya? We have elderberries here and I just saw some bushes (ripe!) on the edge of the riverbed near where we live. Need to slip down there and pick a bunch and make me some elderberry syrup. It's been years..........
Enjoy your berries and (if it's good!) pour an extra cup for me, would ya?

Hi again,
I just came across this interesting site when searching for the berry.... has a little info about making a tea...... just in case you are interested.

Incidently, I found a lot of references to menopause and female problems.... maybe I'll see if I can't pick some up in the capsule form, just for kicks!

From every thing I have read this tree/bush should grow just about every where...If it grows in England it will grow in California, and yet it grows here in Montana. I just can't believe the properties in this berry. I wasn't able to get any picked as I got busy with some thing else. Lori and I will be going today so I/you have to wait till tomorrow to find out about the tea. Now I most always add something to my rose hip tea as it too has very little taste, (though there is a taste) most often just a little cranberry juice, it turns out wonderful, I drink a cup just about every night. I can't believe you all have elderberries down there, here they don't taste very good till the first good frost, well that's what they tell me any way...do you all get frost there?
I tried the Hawthorn berry tea this morning. Not bad...I will let you all know in a few days about any changes. The taste is not bad at all, a little stronger than Rose hip tea...I like mine without sweetener, but I am sure it would be real good with honey.
