Fun Foam Clocks
Materials : Two sheets fun foam,
craft glue, scissors, 3D paint pens, grommet, hole punch
Instructions : Trace and cut out a dinner plate sized circle from one sheet
of fun foam. Use one color 3D paint pen to write the numbers on the
clockface. Use another color to draw small lines marking 5 minutes (one
line by each number on the clockface). Use a third color to draw lines
indicating the remaining minutes. Allow the paint to dry overnight. Next,
cut a short and long arrow shape from the second sheet of fun foam. Use
the hole punch on both arrows.
Use : Use the foam clock to demonstrate movement of the hour and minute hand. Point out the significance of the minute demarcations as well as the 5 minute demarcations. Count all lines showing the 60 minutes of each hour. Alternate setting the clock and having your child identify the time with calling out a time and having your child set the clock accordingly. Poke a small hole in the center of the
clockface with scissors. Using a grommet, attach the arrows to the
clockface.
