The Wonder of Birth
By Dani
Yesterday I went to the State Fair with my mom and my sister. We saw a cow
being born.
When we first walked up to the animal barn, we saw two people pulling on
chains. They were behind the cow. I was surprised to see the chains and the
people pulling really hard. The chains were attached to the baby cow's front
legs. They had to put the chains on her because she was twisted inside her
mom. They pulled for a long time. I was sitting on my mom's shoulders so I
could see better.
After they pulled for a long time, the baby calf came out. Everyone in the
crowd clapped and cheered. She was black and white and wet. The people took
the chains off right away and put her next to her mom's head. The mom
started licking the baby calf, and she didn't stop until she had licked her
whole body.
We got to vote on the name for the new calf. I wanted to name her Bubbles,
but Cally won. So her name is Cally, because she was born at the California
State Fair with a lot of people watching her come out.
