Ordering Information

Everyone who loves holidays, family, and the beauty of the changing seasons should own a Susan Branch book. One of her newest, Autumn from the Heart of the Home, is just such an example. The author has taken a mixture of homespun wit, creative artwork, love of home and the beauty of autumn and put together this charming volume. Each page is full of tips, recipes, entertaining ideas, quotations and the rich colors of fall. You can almost smell the crisp air and the fallen leaves as you turn the pages.

Susan wrote of her book: "Inspired by my daily walks through the color-dappled woods to the sea, seeing birds on their way south, woodsmoke on the wind, leaves turning and drifting down from the trees, I hand-lettered and watercolored AUTUMN in my studio, with the glorious harvest as my inspiration in the kitchen."

Autumn from the Heart of the Home is handwritten and watercolored with over 100 delicious recipes, including Corn Pudding, Sesame Ginger Shrimp, Harvest Stew, , Red Chili Onion Rings, Turkey in the Straw, Cranberry Apple Crisp, Cinnamon Ice Cream, Gingerbread Cake, and Oktoberfest Pumpkin Cheesecake. Each of the 128 pages is its own little surprise treasury. I am always amazed at the creativity in each of the Susan Branch books, which is why I have so many of them!

Harvesting and Using Summer Squash

Summer squash is one of my favorite vegetables. I love the yellow summer squash in particular. They should be harvested while still tender, when they have a "glossy" appearance and are still small. You will most likely need to harvest daily once they start to appear.
