I love creating crocheted versions of household items to use at home or to give as a heartfelt homemade gift.  You will love how easy and fast these crocheted coasters work up.  With Father’s Day right around the corner, you can easily crochet a set for the special dad in your life. Your dad (or friends) will treasure a set of homemade coasters.  Make them up in any color combination or solid colors to match your home’s unique décor.

Difficulty: Easy

Materials: Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice in Red, Grey, & Black; Hook size G/4.25mm, yarn needle

Key:

CH = chain

SC = single crochet

HDC = half double crochet

DC = double crochet

SL ST = slip stitch

 

Instructions:

Start with a magic ring or…

Ch 6.  Join to form a ring.

Rnd 1: Ch 3. Dc 2 over ring. *Ch 2. Dc 3 over ring. Repeat from * 2 more times. Join yarn to 3rd chain of round.

Rnd 2: Change color, starting in one of the “ch 2” spaces (corners). Ch 3. 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc. Ch 1. In next corner *3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc. Ch 1. Repeat from * 2 more times. Join yarn to 3rd chain of round.

Rnd 3: Change color, starting in one of the ch 1 spaces before a corner. Ch 3, 2 dc in ch 1 space. Ch 1. 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc. Ch 1. *3 dc in ch 1 space. Ch 1. 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc. Ch 1. Repeat from * 2 more times. Join yarn to 3rd chain of round.

Rnd 4: Change color, starting in one of ch 1 spaces before a corner. Ch 1. Sc in each stitch to corner. At corner ch 2 space, 3 sc. *Sc in each stitch to next corner. At corner ch 2 space, 3 sc. Repeat from * 2 more times. Join yarn to 1st sc. Finish and weave in ends.

Repeat this pattern 3 more times for a set of 4 coasters.  (Make more if you need them.) Now you have a fun, homemade set of coasters to use, show off and share!  Enjoy!
